The El Paso Zoological Society’s Roar and Pour Summer Safari Gala presented by Western Refining was the WILDEST party of the summer! If you missed it, you missed a Friday night of fine wine, craft beer, spirits, frozen refreshments, lots of food, and plenty of live entertainment!
On August 26th, our Zoo doors opened to VIPs at 5pm where they were given an exclusive VIP gift bag sponsored by Nicholas and Elena Tejeda of Hospitals of Providence after taking their Red Carpet pics brought to you by BMW of El Paso. They then enjoyed a special catered tasting prepared by the Zoo’s very own “Taste of El Paso Zoo” under the VIP chalet located in the Americas, sponsored by HUNT Companies. The air was filled with the soothing sounds of the Ruben Gutierrez Jazz Quartet as our VIPs snacked on delicious nibbly bits and drank cool spirits.
As the Society welcomed the rest of their guests around 6pm, many were already dancing to live music brought to you by PRIME, Abe Mac, and house beats by Davinci. Restaurants like Carino’s, A Taste of Africa, Craze, Café Grille, Tabla, and Twin Peaks (to name a few) showcased some of their finest cuisines and appetizers to our eager donors. But it wasn’t until sundown that our invitees began to tap into their wild side by taking pictures in the CUBE with our Neon Jungle 12 feet tall robots!
With over 600 guests in attendance, the Society surpassed their goal fundraising over $100,000 for the El Paso Zoo!
This event helped fundraise money for capital improvements, veterinary equipment, animal acquisitions, world animal conservation projects, educational programs and field trips for low-income schools. Every year, our operational support goal is to raise $500,000 for these efforts. As our Zoo continues to grow, so do its needs for expanding our community outreach.
