We need some special events volunteers for Over the Edge to help make this a successful event!

All volunteers will receive an event day t-shirt, breakfast or lunch depending on your shift, and a certificate of appreciation for your service hours.

Please indicate if you want to volunteer all day or in 4 hour shift below.
Registration – You are the friendly face that will help check in edgers and give them their registration packet.
Edger Escorts – Edger Escorts help guide Edgers to their destination.
Rise and Shine Set Up Team – The Rise and Shine set up team will help pop open tents and get the event ready for guests at 9AM.
Take Down Team – This will be our team to help us take down tents and pack up our mobile Zoo displays.
Ropes Volunteer – Are you a trained ropes rescuer? If so, let us know and you can help us belay.
Media Volunteer – From charging GoPros, taking photos, or escorting press our media volunteers
Misc. Duties – We’ll need volunteers to help pass out programs, assist with crafts, or in the kid zone.
Q: I am having trouble registering a team.
A: Contact our office at 212-2877 and we can set up your team for you over the phone.
Q: Can I choose the time slot that meets my schedule that day?
A: Yes. Six people can rappel per hour, let us know which time works best for you.
Q: What if I do not meet the registration minimum?
A: There is a credit card guarantee form that you can fill out to secure your spot. We will charge the difference of the $1,000 minimum to your card on the day of the event. You will have two weeks after the event to raise your money back, and we will refund the money that we charged you.
Q: What if I raised money and can no longer rappel.
A: You have the option to transfer the rappel, but we need to have them come in our office and fill out paperwork. Otherwise, it is a donation to the Zoo, and we will still recognize you as an honorary edger. You will receive your packet if you reached the fundraising minimum.
Q: I am afraid of heights, can I still participate?
A: Yes! You can sign up to be a scaredy cat and will receive a packet for that level and still be eligible for edger incentives if you go over the minimums.
Q: Can my family come and see me rappel?
A: Absolutely! Tell everyone you know! The event is free, only you as the edger will be able to go up to the roof, but your family can be at the event to cheer you on and participate in all the fun activities.
Q: I have never fundraised for anything in my life, will I receive help from the Zoological Society?
A: You are not alone. We will help you along the way through special zoo tours, to fundraising 101 classes, resources, news stories, we will help educate you about all the impact areas that we are fundraising for at the Zoo.

The El Paso Zoological Society has teamed up with Over the Edge and the City’s Parks and Recreation department to bring a unique adventurous fundraising event to Downtown El Paso. Much like our spider monkeys that rappel from ropes, 100 participants or “Edgers” can register to safely rappel from the Anson Mills Building in downtown El Paso by fundraising a minimum of $1,000 to benefit wildlife care, education and conservation efforts at the El Paso Zoo.
About Over the Edge
Over the Edge is a special events company that provides signature events for non-profit organizations anywhere in the world. Business leaders, individuals, and community members are invited to raise pledges in exchange for the experience of rappelling down the edge of a prominent local building Over the Edge is responsible for all technical aspects of the event including the insurance, professional staff and rappelling equipment.
About the Event Weekend
We will be holding a Zoo Party for two days downtown for people to come out and cheer on the participants and experience wildlife presentations. The Block Party will be in Downtown El Paso 303. N. Oregon on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 9AM-5PM.

The first day of rappelling will be for Community Leaders/ Lead Sponsors and Media.
- Liquid Courage Party
All Edgers are cordially invited to attend the exclusive Over the Edge Liquid Courage Party courtesy of the Double Tree Downtown. Participants for Saturday’s rappelling must pick up their packets (includes parking passes, event directions, shirts) at this gathering.

- Over the Edge & Into the Fun Block Party!
Noon – 10PM
Thanks to Parks and Recreation, this is one party you won’t want to miss! Downtown’s San Jacinto Plaza will play host to food trucks, art and craft vendors, activities for all ages, entertainment, live music, and much more! Come cheer on your favorite Edger, take a picture with the Zoological Society’s mascots, and meet some wildlife friends of the El Paso Zoo. There will be a free concert from 8pm-10pm!
The event is free for spectators and a great way to learn more about your Zoo!

There Are Still Spaces Left to Register
There are multiple ways in which you or a team can participate. You can sign up to be an Edger online by clicking on the registration button. You can rappel solo or do it as a team. You will receive an online fundraising page so others can track your progress.
