Hello Zoo Family, Friends, Fans, and Animal Lovers!

We have missed you, and we are happy to announce that the El Paso Zoo will open Wednesday, February 10th at 9:30 am! There will be some slight changes to your zoo experience to ensure that our guests have a fun and safe visit. Our mission is the same, but our methods have changed. All of these changes are designed to minimize the spread of COVID-19.

Temporary New Hours

Monday and Tuesday: Closed

Wednesday – Friday: 9:30 am – 3:00 pm (last ticket and last member check-in at 2:00 pm)

Saturday – Sunday: 9:30 am – 5:00 pm (last ticket and last member check-in at 4:00 pm)

  • Online admission ticket sales are temporarily disabled. If you or your guest need to purchase admission tickets to the Zoo, tickets can be purchased at the front gate. Daily capacity is limited and admission to the Zoo is not guaranteed. Members and non-members do not need to make a reservation to be admitted to the Zoo.
  • If you have any questions regarding the status of your membership, please call (915) 212-0245 and our Zoo Society staff will assist you.
  • Face masks for guests ages 3 and older are required when you visit the El Paso Zoo.
    • For the safety of our guests and animals, all Zoo Staff will be wearing face masks.
  • For your convenience and safety, there will be hand-sanitizer stations available.
    • Zoo staff will be regularly cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Bathroom facilities are open and will be cleaned regularly.
  • Don’t forget to wash your paws often.
  • Social distancing markers will be placed throughout the Zoo.
    • Please maintain a safe distance of 6-feet from the nearest guest that is not in your wolf pack during your visit.
  • One café will be open with limited food options.
    • Mobile food ordering is available for the Grasslands Café. Please use the QR code to order food.
    • The Grasslands Café will regulate the number of people inside to help maintain location occupancy.
    • You are still welcome to bring in your cooler. Glass, alcohol, and single use plastic are not allowed.
    • Kiosks with food and water will be available throughout Zoo grounds.
    • Water fountains will not be available.
    • Picnic seating is limited.
  • Retail locations, such as the Safari Outfitters Gift Shop, will be open.
    • Capacity into the Gift Shop will be limited.
    • Inventory at the Gift Shop will be limited.
    • Kiosks with various Zoo novelties will be available throughout Zoo grounds.
  • Due to limitations, the following spaces and animal interactions will be closed:
    • Hunt Family Endangered Species Carousel
    • African Star Train
    • Copper Canyon Ropes Course
    • South American Pavilion
    • Asia Forest Complex
    • Giraffe feedings, shows, and animal demonstrations
  • Areas open:
    • Foster Treehouse Playground
    • El Paso Electric Kalahari Research Station
    • Flash Flood demonstration
    • Wildlife Amphitheatre (limited seating; there will not be any animal presentations)
    • Hunt Family Desert Springs Splash Pad
